Ms. Sammi

I have been working in education for about 10 years.

I grew up in Ohio, and attended The Ohio State University for my undergraduate degree in English with a Creative Writing Minor. I then continued my education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a Masters in English Education.

My first year of teaching was in Shelby, NC. I taught ESL to Kindergarten through 5th grade at Springmore Elementary and James Love Elementary through the Shelby Public Schools.

Following that, I accepted an opportunity to teach abroad, and I moved to Cheonan, South Korea! I taught English to Korean students in Kindergarten through 6th for four years. Right before the COVID pandemic, I was actually living and teaching English in China. Due to COVID, I moved back home and settled in Newark, NJ. I taught English to 5th graders at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School. The following year, when we returned to in-person instruction, I taught 4th and 5th grade ELA.

I have some very close friends in South Korea, and one of my friends and colleagues opened a school in Cheonan. So, I moved back to Korea to help facilitate the opening of his English school. I worked in Cheonan, Korea for another two years before returning home.

In my gallery slideshow, you'll see some of the students that I have worked with over the years.

Some things that I enjoy include: RPG video games, reading, comic books and graphic novels, manga and anime, hiking, running, and traveling.
