Synopsis - Game of Tiaras, written by Don Zolidis, follows the storylines of seemingly different works of popular fiction. This hilarious tragedy mixes one part Shakespeare, adds a hefty dollop of Game of Thrones, and sprinkles in the magic of Disney Princesses. Designed as a satirical and irreverent version of King Lear, the audience is taken on a romp through a Magical Kingdom where an aging king must decide how to split up his kingdom with his three daughters, (Cinderella, Belle, and Ellie) and ultimately decide which daughter will wear the crown. With power-hungry princesses, apathetically hipster dwarves, and surprises, the battle for the throne has just begun!
Author Don Zolidis' plays for young people are among the most-produced in the country and have received more than 7,500 productions, appearing in every state and 51 countries. The Orange Visual and Performing Arts department is excited about being the next school district to produce one of his excellent plays for teens. "For years, I've wanted to showcase a tragedy which doesn't take itself too seriously," says Director Michael Seidel. "With this year's pool of young talent, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to showcase the comedic skills of our Orange players." Is making this play as fun as it sounds? Assistant Director Dana Levin thinks so. "I'm having a great time working with this incredibly talented cast. The show is so much fun, and the actors are doing a great job bringing these characters to life."
The incredibly talented actors that bring this production to life are all students from Orange Preparatory School, STEM Academy of the Oranges, and Orange High School. Led by Orange Drama veterans Takiyah Head (Senior), Anthony de la Rosa (Senior), Mackela Carasco (Junior), Brenda Palencia (Sophomore), Elliott Holmes (Sophomore), and Cheyenne Williams (Sophomore) this hysterical comedy about betrayal, loyalty, and ambition will leave you sore from laughter! Tickets for these performances are limited, so don't delay in securing your spot to join these young actors on this wild ride.
